John C. Maher is Professor of Linguistics in the Department of Media, Communication and Culture at International Christian University, Tokyo, and Programme Director of Linguapax Asia. He received degrees in philosophy and linguistics from the universities of London, Michigan and Edinburgh. His research interests include multilingualism, language death and revival, language and medical communication, toponymy, and semiotics. His books include Chomsky for Beginners (Icon, 1996) and Multilingualism (Oxford University Press, 2017). |
